What is green IT? Most everyone is interested in cleaner and greener living. Information Technology or IT is not different and Green IT definitely is coming into its own.

When you think about Green IT, you may wonder what exactly does that mean? It is a complex question and since we hear so much about the Cloud does that mean the Cloud is Green IT? It can be and mostly is.

Plan IT Green

• Build your IT so that your Employees to Telecommute (huge green savings)
• Use Screen Savers and Power Settings to limit the use of electricity
• Let your Employees use their own devices
• Recycle your computers, parts, boxes, plastic, accessories, phones and the like
• Buy Energy Saving IT components
• Use the Cloud Vendors, especially the ones who not just think green, but act green
• Use tools like Amazon Web Services and LabSlice to run turn off your instances not being used
• Don’t forget to Measure as that will help you manage improvement
• Challenge Conventional Thinking
