Is Cloud Computing Good for the Economy?

For a lot of companies, the answer is yes. Clearly the Cloud will eventually help reduce staffing and costs and that is good for businesses through consumers. The Cloud should be a job killer in the long run in some aspects, but that is what we do as a people. We keep deploying automation via machines to free people up to do other things. It can be a rough road, but for people like us at Desktop Anywhere, bring it on.

Joe McKendrick’s article talks about long feared “hollow corporations,” or businesses that don’t actually produce actual goods or services themselves. He explains further that these cloud company’s act as brokers or intermediaries relying on networks of suppliers and partners. But now, thanks to technology, successful businesses surprisingly are often brokers of services, delivered via technology, from providers and on to consumers.
